HyTerra Limited (ASX: HYT), an Australian-listed company focused on natural hydrogen and helium exploration, is launching a significant drilling campaign in Kansas, USA. The company, which was the first to list on the ASX with a focus on white hydrogen, aims to pioneer low-carbon energy solutions by unlocking the potential of naturally occurring hydrogen. With its 100%-owned Nemaha Project, HyTerra is strategically positioned to capitalise on this emerging resource.
HyTerra Limited has announced the commencement of its exploration program at the Nemaha Project in Kansas, marking a major step in its strategy to unlock natural hydrogen and helium reserves.
The company has seen increased investor interest following this announcement as it advances its 12-month work plan to establish a sustainable hydrogen resource.
The initial stage of exploration will begin in April 2025 with two wells drilled in succession, with the potential for a third.
The company has secured the necessary permits from the Kansas Corporation Commission, ensuring flexibility in selecting priority drill sites. As part of this phase, HyTerra will continue leasing high-priority areas to expand its resource base.
A key component of the program is the geophysical survey, which is scheduled to run from March to May 2025. This includes an airborne geophysical survey led by New Resolution Geophysics (NRG™) to cover approximately 10,000-line kilometers, followed by seismic surveying in collaboration with Paragon Geophysical Services Inc.
The data collected will help refine future well locations, supporting the second phase of drilling planned for later in the year.
Murfin Drilling Company, based in Kansas, has been selected as the well operator, with SLB providing geological data analysis. The three-step drilling process includes exploration drilling, subsurface data collection, and potential extended production testing, depending on the results. These insights will be crucial in assessing the commercial viability of natural hydrogen production.
HyTerra’s Nemaha Project is part of a broader effort to establish white hydrogen as a viable low-carbon energy source. The company is positioning itself as a first mover in this emerging market, leveraging its expertise and strategic partnerships to accelerate exploration efforts.
In addition to the Nemaha Project, HyTerra continues to evaluate data from its Geneva Project in Nebraska, where it holds a 16% interest.
The company is reviewing information from previous well tests and plans to update the market once the analysis is complete.
With increasing global interest in sustainable energy solutions, HyTerra’s exploration activities come at a critical time. Investors will be closely watching the drilling results and geophysical findings to gauge the project’s long-term potential.
As the first ASX-listed company focused on white hydrogen, HyTerra is taking decisive steps to establish itself as a leader in this emerging industry.
